I don’t doubt it

Many commentors here say that other breads bite more than pitbulls.  That may be.  But when those other dogs bit, they pit once and are through.  When a pit bull bites, well, he’s hell bent on killing his human prey.

And sure it could be that people have targeted pitbulls to bread for violence.  But that would only happen if the breed showed a predisposition for violence in the first place.  Yet, even if that was not true in the beginning, it stands to reason that violence is being bred into the dogs, and passiveness is being bred out.

Regardless, there are all sorts of dogs in need of homes that would be good pets, that are not pitbulls.   That people are in such defense over this one bread is very telling indeed.

Why they don’t just find another bread to adopt is beyond my understanding.

Oh goodness. Why people don not find another breed is such a simple answer. Everyone likes certain BREEDS not BREADS of dogs for certain reasons. Pits are one of the most loyal, and loving dogs I have ever been around. I like pits and I am not a white trash crackhead. Normal, succesful people like them also. I have had 3 now and couldn’t be more pleased. They are obedient, kind, playful, and more than anything very very loyal and loving. They are absolutely wonderful dogs. I see that you are trying very hard to sound intelligent and failing. If you want anyone to take you seriously first you need to learn how to spell. Second you need to research better. Get around one. Stop being so shallow and ignorant.

well pitbulls were bred to do one thing and thats to hunt boars and hold cattle for butchers to kill there have been countless test done on all dogs including pits about thier tollernce twoards humans they scored an 81 to 95 percent above all other dogs its really how you raise them and if you dont let them or any other dog around people then they will be more aggrsive like the story about the four pits killing that boy thats four dogs in a pack not with owners and they will be more aggresive while in a pack thats comman sense in my home town a pack of wild dogs killed an old lady one was a pit the rest were mixes theres so many stray dogs thats bound to happen most people dont know how to raise dogs in general and having a hyper active dog couped up in a house or chained or in a kennel will effect the way they act

First of all, you need a proper English class to help you formulate a sentence. Second, do you even know anything about pitbulls? If you did you would know that they are used as police canines and US customs dogs. Also, according to the American Temperament Test Society, Pit Bulls pass the test with flying colors. In fact, the Pit Bull scores 82% or more which is higher than a lab.

Did you know a Pitbull was the first American War dog in World War 1. He was awarded with medals and inspired the police canine program. I’ll bet you had no clue that Helen Keller’s canine service dog was a pitbull. Since then they are used in hospitals as therapy dogs. I’m assuming you also were unaware that A Pit Bull named Weela, saved 30 people, 29 dogs, 13 horses and a cat during a flood in Southern California. How about Dakota a Pit Bull who, during her career, was one of the most active search and rescue dogs in the country and was called to work some very high profile search efforts such as the search for Laci Peterson and the search effort to find the remains of the astronauts who lost their lives in explosion of the Space Shuttle Columbia. A rescued Pit Bull called Popsicle is a United States Customs dog, and is famous for sniffing out one of the biggest cocaine busts in history, although to you that was probably an unfortunate event. You’re right, pitbulls are not loyal at all. A pitbull named Chief was not being loyal when in 1997, he rescued his family of humans from a spitting cobra by dashing in front of the attacking snake and taking the deadly bite himself.

I’m assuming you know about Michael Vick who brutally conducted dogfights using pitbulls. Did you know all dogs were evaluated multiple times and only one out of over 50 was deemed to aggressive and put down. Nearly all of those poor dogs have since been socialized and rehabilitated. Quite a few have already been adopted and their new families release current reports often about how happy they are and what a great addition these dogs have made to their families.

I suppose you think that only an idiot would own a pitbull. Here is a list of those “idiots” who I’m guessing are/were much more successful than you by the sounds of it.

    Theodore Roosevelt (former US president)
    Mark Twain (wrote american novels)
Thomas Edison (invented many things including the lightbulb)
    Rachel Ray
    Humphrey Bogart
    Jesse James
    Jon Stewart
Woodrow Wilson (also a US president, if you didn’t know)
Cesar Milan (a world famous dog trainer who uses pitbulls as models for outstanding behavior in training)

It is very common for dog attacks involving other breeds to be mistakenly labeled as ‘Pit Bull attacks’. Often, the attacking dog is not a Pit Bull, but is mistakenly reported as such. Some news sources have admitted to not knowing the true breed of a dog who attacked, but called it a pitbull anyway. With experts on different canine breeds such as yourself, I can imagine how these mistakes happen.

I read the dog attacks that were listed below and I find some of them odd. One admitted it couldn’t identify the breed of the dog. Quite a few were attacks by stray animals identified as pitbulls and I want to know who has the proper qualifications to identify a dog. Do you know how much people pay for pure bred pitbulls? Thousands of dollars. I find it hard to believe that a stray dog would be a purebred pitbull. I find it out that they identify it as a pitbull mix. What about all the other canine breeds that have been thrown into the mix? Surely with all this paranoia, we should get to the bottom of this as those dogs might have aggression too. Oh but it is a whole lot easier to blame a breed who was once one of the symbols of americana who now has a bad rap then to blame them all. By the way, all dogs bite. I’m sorry to tell you, biting is not breed specific. Go piss of a rottweiler and see what happens.

Also, I would never leave my door open so that a stray dog could come into my living room where my toddler is alone. That is irresponsible parenting. Having a small child on the floor with a cookie in front of a dog is also bad parenting. Children should never be that far away no matter what animal is in the room. Children can sustain more damage than an adult because they do not have fully developed bones, they have cartilage.

If A pitbull did attack the yorkshire terrior on the porch being that they are so “vicious” and those dogs are so small, one would think that by the time hammers, chairs and 20 people plus a police officer were on the scene, that dog would be dead. I don’t know how many people wander around with chairs and a hammer in case there is a stray dog attack. I hope that one day I live in a neighborhood that well protected.

I hope you can read what I wrote, I realize I did use actual sentences and big words. Good luck with that ignorance in life, it’ll get you real far. If you actually want to know what you are talking about, do your research. Credible sources will tell you exactly what I just did.
